Parents Happy with 8-Inch Memory Foam Mattress from Best Price Mattress

Let me start off by saying I don’t personally use this product. My parents are at an age when they’re plagued by constant mysterious aches and pains. They refused to believe the creaky spring mattress that they probably had since they first got married wasn’t helping to ease their pain, and wouldn’t bother to go mattress shopping with me since they already had a “perfectly good one that didn’t cost thousands of dollars.” Fed up with their complaints and legitimately hoping to soothe their ailments, I skimmed through a lot of memory foam mattress reviews before deciding to buy the Best Price Mattress’ 8 Inch Memory Foam Mattress for them myself.

Cheap Price, Solid Mattress

At first my parents wouldn’t accept the mattress because they thought I spent too much, but when I told them I got their queen size for $235, they changed their tune and wanted to return it, fearing it was too cheap to sleep on. When they unwrapped it, they admitted it felt solid and well made and were willing to give it a try. The other size mattresses are reasonably priced at no more than $300, and I may even snag a couple twins ($160 each) for the kids.

Mattress Safe, Mother Approved

Before the mattress arrived, my mom read memory foam mattress reviews herself to have an idea of what to expect (and subsequently complain about if it didn’t meet her expectations). The mattress is CertiPUR-US certified, meaning it’s free of chemicals, which significantly calmed my mom’s fear that she’d be poisoned in her sleep by her own bed. Foam mattresses typically have a distinct, initial odor upon receipt, but my parents said that the scent, while there, did not (as they were expecting) smell like death. The only issue they had was that they had trouble moving it upstairs. I helped them out and can attest that it’s heavier than their old mattress, but mattresses are heavy so it’s not a terribly valid complaint.

I tried to explain the logic behind its many layers to my parents. The top 2 inches of memory foam molds to the body, the center 2 inches of pressure relief foam distributes weight to relieve stress on the body, and the remaining 4 inches of high density foam is for support. None of this mattered because all my parents cared about was waking up without sore backs. After the first night, they complained that it was too firm. I convinced them to give it a chance and a few weeks later, I got a very cheerful phone call from my dad thanking me for the mattress. He explained that it gradually got softer and supported his back perfectly, whereas my mom, who is significantly lighter, was still having issues adjusting to the memory foam and felt that it was still too hard. Regardless, they both rise out of bed in a better mood than they ever have before, so I count that as a win.

Built for the Years

It’s almost been a year since they received the mattress, and it appears to be holding up well. There are no deep indentations from their bodies, which surprised me. Seeing as how long they kept their old mattress, I doubt they would ever replace this one, but for once I agree; this mattress will last for the rest of their lives.

Good quality
Certi-PUR-US certified – safe and free of dangerous chemicals
Long lasting

Cons:

Heavy – but let’s face it, that mattress isn’t going anywhere now
Very firm, especially for lighter individuals

After reading other memory foam mattress reviews, I secretly hoped this one would magically heal all their aches. Of course, it hasn’t, but both parents are able to sleep easier and wake up ready to face the day. Believe it or not, I’ve been getting fewer complaints and more compliments about their bed.
