Intex Pillow Rest Raised Air Bed Review

Intex Pillow Rest Raised Air Mattress

Last-Minute Visitors – No worries!

Not every house has a guestroom kept in the ready for family and friends who drop by unannounced and need a place to stay. I certainly don’t have one! More than once we’ve had relatives arrive, and we’ve scrambled to get pillows and bedding ready so that they could stay on the couch, or even just the floor!

Not surprisingly, nobody ever complains, and last-minute guests are usually grateful for anything we can offer. Still, I decided recently that I would rather have more comfortable arrangements for overnight guests. Having slept on my friends’ couches on occasion, I know it’s not the best place to sleep well, especially if you are longer than the couch in question!

Intex Pillow Rest Raised Air Mattress

If you have browsed this website, you already know that I make a living selling camping gear. My work allows me to have access to many different makes and models of airbeds, so I started looking for my best option. I didn’t want to spend too much, but I wanted a mattress that I could inflate easily (I’m no athlete!). After some research, I found the Intex Pillow Rest Raised Air Mattress, and I knew I’d found my answer. Here’s why I chose this bed:

It’s User-Friendly

Most air mattresses require hand pumps: sometimes they’re included, and sometimes you need to purchase your own. This air bed includes a built-in pump, which is definitely a plus. You just open the hatch, plug the pump into an outlet and the mattress is fully inflated in four minutes or less.

By the way, you can get this mattress in twin size or queen size. The twin inflates even more quickly than the larger size. Deflating the mattress is just as simple as inflating it, and you can roll it up and store it in a duffel bag that comes with the purchase.

It’s Comfortable

I want to explain some of the features that make the Intex air mattress so comfortable. The top is made up of 15 gauge vinyl beams, and the sides have 16 gauge beams. The mattress has a flocked top to keep the bedding from slipping around, greatly adding to the comfort. The mattress is waterproof too, which is good news if small children who are prone to accidents will be sleeping on it. Standard sheet sizes fit the twin mattresses, and the pillows are built right in. Fully inflated, the bed is 17 inches tall, which is taller than many other air beds that are available.

People have different preferences for how hard or soft a bed should be. This is another great thing about having a built in pump – by letting out a bit of the air after inflating, you can have a softer mattress. You can customize the firmness to suit your guest’s preference.

All of my guests have given positive feedback about this bed. Well, there was one who commented that it just felt different from a normal bed, but really, what can you expect from an air bed? Everyone says that it’s much more comfortable than sleeping on a couch or the floor. Hopefully they won’t start showing up unannounced more often than before!
